Professor Sally Thompson\, UWA Centre for Water and Spatial Science\nAssoc. Professor Sally Thompson will present recent research on new material relating to the impacts of last summer’s hot weather on Banksia woodland around Perth\, urban tree canopy health\, and new findings on temperature differences under tree canopies versus open spaces. Her team has designed a temperature study to compare trees in parks\, suburban street trees\, and trees in built-up areas\, covering three tree species and a range of canopy conditions. The research aims to link factors such as how a green understory affects temperature and how the loss of tree canopy health may impact urban cooling. \n9:20am -10:00am Damian Hough\, Head Curator\, Adelaide Oval\nIf he isn’t called away to the US\, Damian Hough will share insights from his career and life in turf management\, providing a unique perspective from his extensive experience as Head Curator at Adelaide Oval and other Facilities \n10:05am- 10:25am Shonagh Bradstock\, Program Manager\, South Metropolitan TAFE – Short and Refresher Courses for Turf workers\, Turf Managers and Turf Producers.
